Paris, France – In his Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Roland Mouret manages to jump in between chic, sporty and architectural looks, all while maintaining a cohesive style.
This season the designer was inspired by the time he spent designing and decorating his new flagship store at 1006 Madison Avenue in New York. This explains the featuring of a lot of architectural looks and textural interplay. We see many tops and dresses done in structured folds cut to follow a woman’s curves. Real head-turners are harness-like structured tops combined with fluid pants and skirts, the compact knitted tops and square peplums over lean wrap skirts.
There are also a few interesting hemlines that are very sculptured, tapping into the architectural portion of designing the new flagship store. Besides the sculptural elements, we are also very happy to see a couple of holographic designs in the collection. The asymmetric dresses are perfect to wear for a chic dinner on a warm summer night.
All of the outfits designed by Roland Mouret are made to accentuate movement: the flowy skirts and trousers create a weightless and breezy effect. Later in the presentation we also see somewhat more sporty looks that follow the lines of the female body. With pastel colors, cutout shoulders, and neat sporty stripes across the bust these designs are very attractive for a younger audience, all while maintaining an indisputable level of chicness.
The looks are cleanly designed, even with all the patterns, cut outs and textiles Roland Mouret used. It is impressive to see that though the looks do not only manage to meet a variety of designs and genres, they still fit into the spring and summer seasons very well.
Another element that we love about Roland Mouret’’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection is the fact that the ensembles have a very nice number of separates with great details that could easily be interchanged with others. This makes it an accessible and perfectly wearable collection that the Mouret woman will love to wear in the streets.
