Paris, France – With inspirations such as Charles Dickens and Stevie Nicks, Redemption ’s creative director Gabriele ‘Bebe’ Moratti sets the standards high for his Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The musically inspired young brand referenced “A Tale of Two Cities” – New York and Los Angeles from the Seventies and Sixties. What can we expect from Redemption? A story where punk and the military style meet romance.
Dicken’s most famous nouvel starts with the opening line, “It was the best of times. It was the worst of times”. However nothing but best happened at Redemption. From leather, tuxedo-inspired designs and empire embroidery to puffed sleeves, corsets, deep necklines, sequins and ruffles. Redemption creates the ultimate looks for badass strong women who love to be sexy yet powerful. We can spot many long flimsy gowns and maxi-skirts with dramatic trails and embroideries that have a deliciously breezy feel. Crepe de Chine in combination with strong materials such as leather are seemingly opposites, but work very well together.
Most of the looks are dominated by black and white. However, we are also able to spot softer, more romantic colors such as pastel pink and lavender. Furthermore, a returning motive is a striped black & white pattern, and subtle floral patterns used for the flowy dresses. Skinny fit trousers, loose blouses and short jackets are the basics that keep returning throughout the collection and are dressed up with statement pieces and/or embroideries. This shows that the Spring/Summer 2017 collection of Redemption is perfectly wearable, depending on the way you combine the separate pieces.
A notable detail to mention is the fact that the young brand decides to share 50% of its profits with charity, a very admirable gesture indeed! Overall, the collection of Redemption was received very well by the public, as it was the perfect symbiosis between power and softness. We cannot wait to see more of this talented young designer, congratulations Gabriele!
