Riga, Latvia – Talented’s collection for Spring/Summer 2017 is a true one that is clearly created with the hot summer months in mind. In it, the designers have decided to put forth lightly hued and sensible options for both men and women.
The women’s collection features cuts and silhouettes done with pure lines. The dresses are amply cut to prevent movement being restricted. Large functional utility pockets are used in the dresses and in other pieces such as in the shorts and mini skirts. They create a hint of “safari”. This notion is seconded thanks to the use of tan with just an undertone of olive in it. There is the simple wrap dress à la DVF. It is in a cotton-linen blend and is finished with half-length sleeves. The simplicity of its cut makes it a strong force.
When black enters we see Talented also uniting their brand with the most dominant trend of the season: the now dreaded ruffles. Luckily they appear in only several statement pieces such as on the front of a black skirt. They do not dominant the whole of the collection. However a light, powdery blue, oversize shirt is composed entirely of the ruffles. Another interesting look comes in the creation of the almost off-the-shoulder trapeze dress. It has one centimeter straps over the shoulders.
The menswear features lots of shorts. The shirts tend to be a bit oversized. They feature lots of utility pockets as seen in the women’s portion of the collection. Like in the women’s portion of the collection, the colors here are subtle. Now when it comes to the pockets, Talented is very unashamed in their use of them. In fact by adding them so liberally, the popular safari trend is slightly invoked through them.
