Antwerp, Belgium – Romanian designer Irina Mazilu presents a collection that is for the most part consistent in its conception. The Spring/Summer 2017 body of work is also made with a solid technical foundation.
Silk, leather, colorful (faux) fur, lace and velvet are the materials chosen to bring the silhouettes into existence. The velvet is used to composed one of the most compelling looks in the collection. It comes in the form of the two-piece pants ensemble worn with a lace camisole. The pants are cut to 3/4 length. Its blazer has been cut long. The gown in floral silk that follows is seductive in its own right. Though it covers all the body, it is still sexy thanks to it body-hugging fit. The little black dress, which appears in shimmering black velvet has a plunging, bustier top. Its bottom portion falls just above mid thigh length.
Irina Mazilu has been careful and very attentive in the manner that she has cleverly worked leathers and furs into the collection. Though there is little silk in the collection, it fits in perfectly. The best example of this is the wrap coat-dress in deep mauve.
