The new Pre-Fall 2017 collection at Versace is mix of fresh essential separates in refined fabrics for an urban mix.
A burgundy cotton trench has street attitude, while quilted panels on a cropped bomber and zip-up city coat are like inner construction revealed. Tweed is revolutionised with techno threads for a short belted coat, while another tweed is laminated to create a textured sheen on a claret cropped jacket.
The finest lightweight leather is used for the perfect city parka, while patch-pocket miniskirts have leather panels. Leather motopants are a new essential.
A new print is created by combining baroque, animal prints and camouflage – “baroccoflage”. A zip-up parka is in baroccoflage silk jacquard of black, military and aqua green. Meanwhile a sharply tailored pantsuit and shift dress are cut from silk jacquard of bright orange and aqua green. Ruching and drawstring pulls are a key detail, whether it‟s creating dramatic effects on a safari green dress, or creating tiers in a black ruched skirt in silk coupé.
Leopard print is reinvented with a twist of Versace baroque on a knit twinset, while baroque abstracts are used on fine knit sweaters and dresses.
Eloquent complexity is created by printing onto fil coupe for dresses and skirts, while a black fil coupe skirt creates texture with its frayed edges. You can learn more here about what machine they use to print on their clothes.
Skin is revealed by ruffles that cut into the sleeves of a ribbed knit sweater, while ruffles make a Versace „V‟ at the neck of multi-stitch knit dresses. Vivid swirls of Swiss lace decorate shirts and skirts, the edges of the lace hanging free, while large swirls like graffiti are embroidered in silk threads onto a sheer tulle dress.
Furs are exceptional, like a cape of mink intarsia, or a coat with the effect of tweed from hand-woven mink and fox.
