Lodz, Poland – The famed Italian fashion house Versace is once again at its best for the Fall/Winter 2017-2018 season. In its new men’s collection, the house presents a vision of a stong man of steel, who is a powerhouse and a champion in its own ideal.
Artistic director Donatella Versace has decided to create a work that is characterized as being both strong and dynamic. The silhouettes have an outdoors feeling and reminds one of a stylish mountain climber. The visible influences come from the 1980s and the 1990s, thus opening the door wide for the appearance of Versace’s signature baroque motifs. Here we have this logical use of the bold prints, especially substantial checks and graphic design. The materials used are chunky with knitwear, leather and massive coats. Let us not forget the selection of elements that suit the needs of every man : finely crafted coats, jackets and sweatshirts.
One can see the Versace customer will get his money’s worth in the fabric. The lapels are oversized and the details could be a little overwhelming for a more discrete consumer. This screams of “look at me” for the confident guy who can make it work. There are various lengths option from shortly cropped above the hip to maxi’s.The pants are straight legged and sometimes feature contrasting prints. The old-school looks reminds one of popular sitcoms from the 90’s.
The color palette starts from plums from last seen to camel, navy, black, dove grey and a bold usage of red. Versace also offers a h huge selection of accessories from gloves, caps, eyewear, trekking shoes, chains and bags. If Donatella Versace ‘s aim Fall Winter 2017/18 is to create the modern warrior, she has successfully accomplished her goal.
