Paris, France – In its new collection for Fall Winter 2017/18, the urban sportwear and streetwear fashion brand Les Benjamins takes us on an adventure through Mongolian culture. This visually strong homage to the rare Kzakh art of eagle hunting serves as the bridge between East and West.
To be clear the new collection at Les Benjamins is really an opus dominated by track suits, bomber jackets and coats. The house calls upon velvets, double-face cotton jersey, French terry velvet, nylons and faux fur to bring them together. The silhouettes are cut to comfortable proportions. However the outerwear is where both the volume and oversizing appears. This results in an aesthetic that originated from pure hip hop culture. However, it is given a relevance in Eastern culture, which is achieved through the research. It is vividly illustrated and then plasters over the pieces in the collection through the use of color: earthy palette of ochre, burgundy, navy, sand, crimson and gold.
The designs are expressed through thread embroideries and gold foils. The patchwork of tapestry and historical prints are warm. The pieces display slogans that hint back to the theme of the collection. They include “Hunt”, The Horseman Country” and “Great Eagles Fly Alone”.
