Paris, France – Essius, a young Swiss brand, presents in Paris this season its new collection for the Fall Winter 2017/18 season. Generally speaking the house creates its bodies of work from season to season based on Swiss culture and heritage. The themes oftentimes revolve around lesser-known of life in Switzerland.
“Pine woods were indeed the original inspiration behind this collection; but we went to great lengths not to apply it too literally”, comments Adel Najah, co-founder and CEO of ESSIUS. “The spirit is there but it stays abstract, allowing ESSIUS to keep an element of classicism while showcasing originality.”
In the new collection, artistic director & co-founder Youn Chong Bak has decided to marry nature and geometry. A master tailor in her own right, Bak has conceived with her watchful eye tailored suits, coats, hooded tops, sweatshirts, shirts, silk scarves, bomber jackets, and formal wear jackets for evening. They are created with rich textures of felted wools, cashmere, fur and tweeds. They are placed on colors of black, mustard, pine green, blue, etc. And the prints are inspired by coniferous trees. The looks are extremely sophicated but can be toned down through a mix of accessories such as proposed in the footwear by Ms. Bak.
This collection is rather discrete with no overt flair. However the devil is in the detail of the work. Youn Chong Bak has crafted a richly conceived body of work. It corresponds perfectly to the understated luxury that ones associates to the namesake country from which the brand takes its name.
