SCHIAPARELLI: A Celebration of Spring

Paris, France – Spring is in the air and Schiaparelli is wasting no time in preparing a festive celebration as a tribute to it. The house has just unveiled its new haute couture collection in Paris. And wow! It screams of fun, optimism and humour.

The collection at Schiaparelli intends to celebrate the Spring/Summer 2017 season with very feminine silhouettes. It will also be a season of love as suggested by the hearts that appear and reappear as an imposed leitmotif. The house offers original pieces for daywear such as very short dresses, pleated skirts, short-cropped jackets, pants suits, shorts sets, etc. Any of these looks could become an instant favorite of today’s clientele and particularly of the top Hollywood celebrities who have been knocking non-stop at the doors of Schiaparelli since it relaunch several shorts years ago.

In terms of the details that we see, we find the heart represented in a great deal of the pieces. They appear either as appliqués on the materials or as cutouts as we see in the boots. And speaking of the boots, Schiaparelli makes them sexy as it takes them from short cuts that fall below the calves to lengths that reach far above the knees.

There are of course lots of motifs and comical images that give the collection its humour. Many of these said images are the results of hundreds of hours of embroidery work accomplished in Schiaparelli’s ateliers. Yet, the colors too play a huge role in making them so relatable. And they are applied with glee to the smiles, the eyes, the lips, lobsters, etc.
