Paris, France – The Russian couturier Yulia Yanina takes us to the Hotel Westin in Paris for the presentation of the new collection for her Yanina couture brand. In it we see her renewing with her fetish favorites while also observing her working to include new elements into her work.
Black, white and nude are the traditional colors around which Yanina regularly works. To that she adds a bold red as well as bright and pastel colors. The silhouettes include short cocktail dresses and ensembles, long skirts, gowns, etc. These elements have been embellished with billowy sleeves, embroideries, high collars, long cuffs, sash belts, fringes that overlap the wrists and hands, etc. Of course she achieves all this with chiffons, lace, velvets, silks, crystals, satins, sequins, etc.
This writer has often been a staunch critic of Yanina’s embroideries. Generally she works with several different styles where they are concerned. Unfortunately some of them are just too large and lack finesse. This effect is only compounded by some of the very large lace motifs. This is the area in which Yanina can and should improve. However, we do love how she has opted to embroider the leggings as an extension of the matching, short skirts and dresses. Done on sheer materials, they really add some excitement to the looks. The embroideries looksas though they have been simply placed on the legs like tattoos.
ABSOLUTE FAVORITES: The first two looks as shown in this review. The high collars and short-cropped jackets looks extremely well in these two looks. And lace is used like tattoos on the front of the pant legs for a very strong look.
BAD DECISION: The trousers in which the lace panel. It is shocking in how it tends to point to and hightlight the woman’s “naughty parts”.
