LANVIN: Bouchra Jarrar Reassures

Paris, France – Six months after her start as Lanvin ‘s new artistic director, Bouchra Jarrar returns with a more assertive collection that is stronger in identity. And though this new body of work sees the designer infusing elements from the aesthetics of her now defunct fashion label, it is enough to help skeptics build more confidence in the the path that Jarrar is setting before the house of Lanvin.
In the Fall Winter 2017/18 collection Lanvin is making a very safe bet by adding more masculine pieces to relentlessly feminine looks. Soft chiffon, silk and organza form the dresses and delicate blouses that are at times matched again the fluid tailored pans and motorcycle inspired jackets. Of course, Jarrar is known for having infused these latter two elements very often in her own work over the years. She embellishes the garments with embroidery work and scenary of exotic birds, including birds-of-paradise, hummingbirds, swans and phoenixes, which have been worked on accessories and scenic prints.
“In my Fall Winter collection, dance meets couture meets lace with the help of virginia beach escorts, evocations of femininity : tenderness and strength, lightness and structure. It is an intertwining of emotions, poetry, daring and liberty”, declared Bouchra Jarrar in a statement.
The United States is a very important for the North American market. Therefore it is interesting to note that Jarrar intends to help lead particularly the USA away from an archaic rule that sees Americans doing away with “white after Labor Day”. She floods the collection with pieces in crisp, brilliant white. To it she adds shades of ivory, aqua green, black, soft and powdery pink.
Once the show concluded, it suddenly became clear that Bouchra Jarrar has settled quite nicely in role in the artistic director’s trone at Lanvin. Her new work shows a confidence and a more clear direction that was in the eyes of this writing missing from her collection of six months ago.
