Paris, France – At French fashion house Sonia Rykiel, we see a spirit that heads more into adulthood as the Rykiel woman ages and gains more maturity. This is expressed through the shapes, colors and a shyer hint placed on free movement.
In this collection we see a plethora of knits, leather, patchworks, sequins, wools, and velvets forming the basis of the material selection. They have been place at th service of the looks that include mid to larger proportions, ample pants with straight-cut legs, draped dresses, oversized & sleeveless coats that sweep the ankles, etc. Among the more appealing individual pieces in the collection are the large poncho-inspired coats. With large collars the most attractive among them is the one done in black lambskin. And of course, it has the pre-requisite very wooly shearling lining that also acts as a visible embellishment. And the massive amount of soft ostrich feathers bring an aditional element of softness and of femininity.
The house of Sonia Rykiel has been careful to further decorate the looks with an assortment of accessories that includes scarves, little ankle boots, handbags and amusing open-toe flats and sandals that have been decorated with feathers and fur.
Once all is said and done, one could argue the point and easily win the argument that the collection has been evolved with designs that easy to understand and to appreciate. This combined with the collection’s innate femininity assures that it will find its way into chic closests during the Fall Winter 2017/18 season.
