Paris, France – The new Agnes B. collection for Fall Winter 2017/18 is what one could consider to be a “comfort” collection. It features familiar shapes and silhouettes from styles past. Yet they have been freshened up and given a contemporary elegance that is rather soothing to the eye.
The house is eponymously named for its founder, the French designer Agnes B. She believes that no-nonsense fashion should be both attractive and functional. So with this in mind, she set about taking her materials of wool, cotton, knits, velvets, leathers and tweeds and fashioning them into silhouettes of colorful, short-cropped jackets that have been cinched at the waist; simple, but long length skirts of an unassuming nature; culotte style pants; long coats, etc. Being free from pretentious volumes, the sweaters are the such that inevitably give hints to the shape of the body.
Anis green, prune, saffron, cerulean, black, red and white are among the majors that form the color palette. And there are the original prints and formations that we find decorating the pieces at times.
Though most of the garments can effortlessly slip and slide into any wardrobe without the distinction of being signature pieces, one must admit that the most identifiable among them are the blousers, sweaters and tops. When placed together, one enjoys a bit of retro-class that was associated to women in certain social circles of easy financial means. However, the active sportswear pieces presented at the end of the collection are entirely contemporary and for all without any particular distinction of social class.
