Paris, France – Since Alithia Spuri-Zampetti took over the creative helm as Paule Ka ‘s artistic director, the house has simply been fire. After presenting six month’s ago what could arguably have been included in the conversation of best collections, she returns with another body of work that must too cannot be excluded from that same conversation regarding the best collections for Fall Winter 2017/18.
For Paule Ka, Spuri-Zampetti’s new collection is an exercise in which several important but very logical forces come together: research, ideas, materials and fine cutting skills. Once conjugated under the attention her relentlessly watchful eye, we come face to face with an electric body of work that literally flatters the female form. It never resorts to overkill or to theatrical antics. Rather, Spuri-Zampetti uses her materials to form dazzling silhouettes that flatter the body with strong hints of sensuality in spite of their having been conceived for elegance. But perhaps that is the real secret to this collection being an irresistible for next season.
Whites are brought together with colors of bold red, metallic gray and deep emerald-green. They have been placed on crepe, silk, wool, lace, tweed, etc. in the creation of pieces that move from daywear to after five and to evening wear. Looks more suitable to the demands of red carpet have also been included. And in numerous pieces we see fringes and other details used to create a sense of kinetic movement, even when the pieces have not been set in motion. — Overall, this is simply brilliant work !
