Madrid, Spain – Monochrome, straightforward and somewhat sober. This is what we find at the Fall Winter 2017/18 collection of Juanjo Oliva. It radiates a charming simplicity which makes it perfectly wearable for the streets. Even though there are men and women walking down the runway, the collection has a rather genderless touch to it.
Strong materials and straight lines define each one of the designs walking down the runway. Trench coats, A-line dresses and blazers are returning items. Notable to see is how the collection is an open interpretation, depending on the styling of the separate items. At first, the looks are very casual, mainly combined with jeans. However, later on they become more elegant when combined with matching trousers and sheer materials. Where we at first mainly see black designs, the collection becomes somewhat more colorful later on earthy tones such as ochreous, brown and red: inspired by the changing autumn colors.
The Fall Winter 2017/18 collection by Oliva is clearly no subject to rising trends. They are neutral pieces which can be worn in any season and in any year. The fact that the separate items are so wearable and easy to style, make them perfect items for classic looks that can’t go wrong. All in all, Juanjo Oliva managed to create a beautifully cohesive and timeless collection which women will be delighted to wear. We can’t wait.
