Paris, France – This writer originally became familiar with the work of Hugo Costa while attending the Porto Fashion Week in Porto, Portugal several years ago. At that time, he was presented as a fresh new talent, and I was immediately taken by his work. Over the years since our first encounter, he has consistently presented his work as a staple of that fashion week. And now since several seasons he has been showing his new work in France as a part of the new names of the Paris Fashion Week for men. Throughout it all, he has shown himself to be an incredibly consistent talent with his finger always on the pulse of today’s youth.
Hugo Costa ‘s new Spring/Summer 2018 collection sees him continue on his trajectory of offering exciting designs for young urbanites, but with that twist that always blesses his work with an edge. He is working with ample volumes that provide comfort to the wearer. With some large collars and slits here and a lot banded belts and belt-like details there, he has managed to create a very appealing body of work with a few prints and bold yellows. And of course, he provides several very attractive jumpsuits and onesies as irresistible forces within the entire collection.
