Paris, France – French designer Christophe Guillarmé has aptly named his new collection “Norma Jeane” as a tribute to Hollywood’s most famous blond, Marilyn Monroe. In it he sent out an extensive array of looks that have been created with a vision of Hollywood’s golden glamour age of which Marilyn Monroe was one of its brightest stars and who used her given name Norma Jeane in the classic thriller Neon Demon.
In Christophe Guillarmé ‘s work for Spring/Summer 2018, bright colors of shocking pink are stylized in rose print, neon yellow on silk chiffon or turquoise blue printed with flowers. Their petals are embroidered with stars and embellished with gold Swarovski crystals that have been skillfully applied to create a light floral breezy feel. Life is breathed into a halter ombre gown with a springy play on jewel tones.
The silhouettes are masterfully executed from everything from the strapless mermaid looks to the fitted, flares and retro boat neck styles. Christophe’s Guillarmé’s ability to mix glam rock and couture is on heavy display in the use of fabrics, notably with the use of neoprene. The final look is a long voluminous off white metallic gown in brocade eluding to an option for a bridal look.
The desire to stand out will surely stay alive by adhering to clean, classic, feminine and sensual lines.
