Paris, France – The Finish fashion house AALTO decided to take us to the Palais de Tokyo for the presentation of its Spring/Summer 2018 collection. This is a wardrobe with very planet-friendly messages. Tuomas Merikoski commissioned the GRMXXI collective for thinking humoristic logos and prints and partnered with Matts Bjolin, Antti Kekki and Taru Happonen.

Indeed on the catwalk fake logos, and very flashy graphics seem to genuinely transmit positive values for empowering people. Some Nordic vibes match with Parisian inspired silhouettes offering a surprising casual-elegant collection. A Rock’n’roll futuristic retro perfectly remains in the raw and elegant main values of the brand.

Some paradoxes appear through the colors, mixing a nude palette of soft grey, beige and pure white with very strong shining black, deep red and orange, or metallic fuchsia. A gentle kind of schizophrenia takes place through the fabrics too, which embrace simultaneously soft and delicates cottons and silks, with very solid and futuristic vinyl and nylon. The very loose-fitting and casual style also surprisingly become the center of attention with very elegant evening 1930’s inspired pieces. Indeed on stage, details as a wink to the 30’s swinging with long gloves, ras-de-cou chokers and accentuated waist and shoulders.

Retro in the future for AALTO has to be conscious and is reflected through a very optimistic association with Repack. The brand is featured with the yellow bags as accessories for that show while offering a waste-free delivering solution the rest of the year for AALTO online sales. A very optimistic and conscious collection made of surprise and promises, positive nostalgia and enthusiastic excitement for a better future, simplement.
