Paris, France – It is at the Hotel Shangri-la in the umber posh 16th arrondissement in Paris where Bebe Moratti unveiled his new collection for the Spring/Summer 2018 season. And it is at this time where the creative mind behind the house of REDEMPTION wonderfully surprised us all with the addition to his universe of new elements.
Once filled to capacity by journalists, buyers and well-wishers who snapped selfies of themselves as they patiently waited on front row, the room was suddenly flooded with dramatic rock music sounds. The models took to the runway as if heading to battle. And why not? “Love is a Battle” as once sang by the legendary rocker Pat Benetar. And the fashion business certainly seems like war at times. This is why we see an energetic movement in the hips of the models as they presented the lingerie-inspired silk dresses with spaghetti straps, studded denim shorts and leather jackets.
Gone are the gold thread embroideries. Perhaps we shall rediscover them in Bebe Moratti’s next couture presentation. But here they have been replaced with lace trims, polka dots, floral embroideries, leopard prints, etc. But the most shocking addition to the Redemption’s universe comes in the form of the LARGE CHECK FLANNEL ELEMENTS. Who would have either thought that they could be styled up for the needs of high fashion? Yet here we are! Moratti does them as well in sequins which makes one of the most ordinary fabrics into an unexpectedly exciting one !
