Monte Carlo, Monaco – The 6th edition of the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week took place this year between May 16th – 20th. It was inaugurated with the reputable MCFW© Fashion Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner, at the prestigious Yacht Club of Monaco on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in the presence of local and international journalists, buyers, VIPs, celebrities and Monegasque dignitaries. Since its inception, the prestigious MCFW Fashion Awards, created by the Chambre Monegasque de la Mode, with the award itself designed by Brazilian artist and Monaco resident Marcos Marin, is attributed to stars in diverse fields of the fashion universe.

The MCFW© Award Ceremony started after a welcome cocktail on the terrace overlooking the port and the Mediterranean Sea. Victoria Silvstedt accompanied the MC Peter Mackley on the stage. After acknowledging the presence of Monegasque dignitaries, there was a brief presentation by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of the Chambre Monegasque de la Mode. The MCFW Fashion Award Winners this year, who received the prestigious award created by artist Marcos Marin, were:

  • MAISON ETRO was bestowed with the MCFW© International Fashion Award, by E. Serge Telle, Minister of State of the Principality of Monaco and Federica Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of CMM.
  • RAHUL MISHRA received the MCFW© Sustainable and Ethical Brand Fashion Award, from Pascal Granero, representing the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and Federica Nardoni Spinetta.
  • TELIER BAILISS & ALICIA ARTS BAGS was the recipient of the MCFW© Luxury Menswear Fashion Award, given by E. Cristiano Gallo, Ambassador of Italy in Monaco, and Rosanna Trinchese, Art Director of MCFW©.
  • ISTITUTO MARANGONI received the MCFW© Education Fashion Award, from Isabelle Bonnal, Director Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Monaco, and Mireille Pietri, General Secretary of the Chambre Monegasque de la Mode.
  • GERMAN LARKIN was recognized with the MCFW© Emerging Photographer Fashion Award, given by television personality Victoria Silvstedt and Rosanna Trinchese.
  • CONSTANZA CAVALLI ETRO received the MCFW© Cultural Fashion Award, from Karl E. Landler, award winner French actor and director, and Celina Lafuente de Lavotha, Communications Attaché of the MCFW & CMM.
  • BANANA MOON received the MCFW© Made-in-Monaco Fashion Award, from Marjorie Crovetto-Harroch, representing the Monaco Town Hall, and Celina Lafuente de Lavotha.

The MCFW© Fashion Awards Ceremony was followed by a Gala Dinner and culminated with DJ Samantha Flores who kept everybody dancing all night long.

Thursday, May 17, 2018 was dedicated to presentations, conferences, debates and dialogues with Fashion People at the Salon Bellevue of the Café de Paris in Monte-Carlo. The event will commence with a brief introduction by Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of the Chambre Monégasque de la Mode and followed by a brief presentation by Michel Dotta President Monaco Economic Board. The objective of the conferences is to bring together CEOs, professionals, academics and buyers from all over the world to discuss the evolution of fashion, new challenges and opportunities for brands and emergent fashion designers, with an international point of view. Flavio Briatore will inaugurate the Face-to-Face interactive discussion with a presentation on Billionaire Lifestyle: Luxury Services Strategies. Another important business leader in fashion, Mr. Mario Boselli, Honorary President of the Camera Nazionale Moda Italiana (CNMI) and President of Banca 5 and member of the Board of Directors of Mediocredito Italiano and Intesa Sanpaolo For Value. Mr Boselli give a brief presentation on Camera Nazionale Moda Italiana, illustrating and presenting the beautiful and well crafted Made-in-Italy, concluding with new fashion developments in China.  Face-to-Face discussions will carry into the international platform, and before lunch break, Miss Olga Egorova will converse about the Caspian region and illustrate the case of the Caspian Fashion Week, highlighting fashion in the multimodal globalized world underlining the relationship between East and West, blended and mutually enriching.

The guiding thread of the Monte-Carlo fashion Week “Young, Talented, International, Emerging, Sustainable and Innovative” will be emphasized by the Istituto Marangoni, one of the leading educational institution internationally recognised as one of the leading players offering higher education in the field of fashion, art and design. The discussion will be led by Valerie Berdah-Levy and followed by Rahul Mishra Face-to-Face covering the designer’s challenges. Rahul Mishra is also the brand ambassador of Istituto Marangoni Paris.

The young, innovative and talented emerging designers participating in the 6th edition of the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week, organized since 20123 by the Chambre Monegasque de la Mode, graced the runway with presentations of capsule, resort, cruise and pre-collections prêt-à-porter Spring/Summer 2019, at the Fashion Village, Chapiteau de Fontvieille, under the artistic direction of Rosanna Trinchese.

On Friday, May 18 at 2:30 a.m., after the Fashion & Flowers brunch at the Princess Grace Garden, opening the Runways the Young French Designers, Maisons de Mode, in the presence of Georges Marsan, Mayor of Monaco, H.E. the Ambassador of France in Monaco Madame Marine Carne de Trecesson and H.E. Ambassador of Italie in Monaco, Cristiano Gallo. The shows were followed by well-known names of the CMM and other international brands including the Russian Chapurin and the talented Rahul Mishra, in the presence of international press, bloggers, buyers, influencers and Vip guests.

They came from all over the world, more than 10 different countries and they are from different ethnic backgrounds, generating a lively multicultural exchange.
