Paris, France – Couturier Galia Lahav takes us to the rue des Ecoles de Medecine in Paris’s posh 6th Arrondissement for the presentation of her new couture collection for Fall Winter 2018/19. Here we observe her effortlessly floating from short and sassy cocktail dresses and party attire to massive ballroom like volumes. In this opus, only a t-shirt could possibly be perceived as a hint to day wear.
Lots of pant sets with bustier tops and trains flood the collection. Crafted in silks and satins, these looks often reveal the shoulders and are nearly always embellished with generous amounts of hand-embroideries. These and the off-the-shoulder looks are also shaped in beautiful silk, chiffon, duchesse satin, etc. and with beads, sequins, etc. And where embroideries are not included, we find Galia Lahav making up their absence with fresh floral prints.
The look of the collection is made consistent through the shape of the silhouettes. For example, we find sheer and embroidered long capes that sweep the floor when worn with many dresses. In addition we see pants sets paired with large skirts that are fully open in the front. Their inclusion on the silhouettes acts as an ad hoc train. They paint a nice visual in the minds eyes in almost the very same manner as the long capes.
