Paris, France – Georges Hobeika’s haute couture collection for Fall Winter 2018/19 is as much a visual triumph as it is a technical one. It recalls of the beauty of swans in general and of the Swan Lake ballet specifically. They are further mixed and enhanced with celestial whispers that make the silhouettes soft, delicate and more beautiful.
Silky organza, chiffons, lace, sheers, tulles, velvets, muslin, etc. blend into the forms that cover the body. Flashes of skin are often seen thanks to the see-through and whispery materials. The looks are crafted to flatter the body. Then they are further embellished with detailed embroideries including those that replicate swans according to the theme. Flowers are created through a skillful play on the fabrics. There are beautiful natural feathers. More feathers are imitated through the use of silks.
Light is reflected throughout the collection and mimics the hues of both sunsets and of early sunrises. They create mysterious shadows through the folds of the pleats, and are enhanced further by the pearls, crystals, etc.
Upon further consideration of the collection as a whole, it is clear that Georges Hobeika’s work is like a fine wine. It betters itself as it ages and adds on new layers of depth.
