The Jimmy Hendrix inspired collection sees the marriage of dandy chick and military structure in what composes this new adventure. The silhouettes have looks cut brilliantly close to the body. The trousers are slim, the coats, jackets and blazers elongate the corps as they are slim cut.

The lapels are short cut to just the sternum. They are very wide and at times appear with fur. The buttons on the coats are as visible from a distance as they are gold. Green pieces like the velvet looks open the collection up from the palette of black, and gray. And of course, the collection is completed with knits, leather and python pieces.

DSQUARED2

FASHION INSIDER

MENS FW 13/14

MILAN

Milan (Men)

Dsquared

Dsquared2

fall winter 2013

menswear

DSQUARED² A Celebration of the Post-War Jazz Hero By Marcellous L. He returns home from the war and impresses with his new wardrobe that includes a litany of 3 quarter length trousers. The tailored blazers are cropped just below the waist. Each has a split in the back and is tightly fitted to the body. Chains dangle from the vests as well.

Lots of long knitted scarves, micro-thin suspenders, bowties, and eyewear serve duty with the ranger boots and large handbags. When paired with the shaved mink cardigan with knit sleeves, the right cord is struck. Formal wear looks see the trousers re-descend to longer lengths. The dinner jackets have large lapels with tips that rise above the shoulders. Beautiful sparkling black appliqués decorate the vests and the shirts.

CANALI

Marcellous Jones

MENS FW 13/14

MILAN

Milan (Men)

CANALI

fall winter 2013

menswear

CANALI Rich Textures Combine for Killer Looks By Marcellous L. Jones

Milan, Italy – Rich textures are the stars of the new Canali look for FW 2013/14. Velvet, woven, cashmere, fur, wool felt, silk, etc. The house sent out irreproachably cut suits in warm colors like brown, chocolate, tobacco, etc. We see total looks and composed three piece looks with charm. Slimming double-breasted redingotes with large copper buttons to highlight them often times come with fur collars.

The six-button, double-breasted suits have double fonts in the back. Their lapels are short cut and semi-wide for a very formal look. Short cropped-jackets in burgundy are paired with trousers in Bordeaux. Large weekend and city bags come in burgundy.

It is interesting to note that Canali is the only house this season to thus far pay real attention to cuffs. They keep their trousers cut closely to the body but show off the ankle boots with the addition of their trousers cut one to two inches above the ankles. The trousers are then finished with 1.5 to 2 inch cuffs.

A blue from the seventies in velvet is created into a blazer and matching vest. They are worn together with paired together trousers in navy blue velvet. The look is deadly.

Z. ZEGNA

Innovation with Commercial Appeal

By Marcellous L. JONES

Milan, Italy – Now that Paul Surridge has had several seasons to move Z. Zegna forward according to his own vision, his strategy and goals are coming together. He emphasis is placed more on practical wear and fabrics innovation than the more “statement-makers” championed by his predecessor Alessandro Satori. In his work we find more commercially safe pieces and silhouettes that include suits with large round-edge pockets, single-breasted suits with slits fonts in the back of the blazers, thin belts, and large scarves. The shoulders are more structured as is the trend of the season from London.

Surridge works with chocolate, tobacco, orange, white gray and various diverse hues of the three. Boiled wool is used in many pieces like vests and jackets. However it is important to note the effective use of leather with wool felts. They are employed in the short-cropped jackets that have been bonded together.

ETRO

Marcellous Jones

MENS FW 13/14

MILAN

Milan (Men)

ETRO

fall winter 2013

menswear

ETRO A Sumptuous Affair for Fall Winter 2013/14 By Marcellous L. The new Fall Winter collection by Kean Etro seemingly has a more subtle approach. But that is simply a “trompe-oeil” effect. In fact the collection is as elaborate as any done by the designer.

Rare graphics are seen in this outing. Done for example in a fitted blazer or in the long mohair finished coats, they strike an interesting contrast to the other more abstract elements seen such as the original designs.

Mustard is used abundantly in some looks such as the nubuck biker jacket with fur lining. Velvet is paired with knitwear, knitwear with quilted materials and then satins.

JOHN RICHMOND

Marcellous Jones

MENS FW 13/14

MILAN

Milan (Men)

fall winter 2013

JOHN RICHMOND

menswear

JOHN RICHMOND Calm Balance with Brilliance By Marcellous L. Jones

Milan, Italy – John Richmond strikes a notably calmer tone this season. Inspired by memories of his early eighties years in Manchester. He translates this tone into silhouettes heavily done in gray and black with hints of white.

The trousers are loose at the crouch but are immediately tapered or fully slim. He does nylon puffer jackets with short cropping, blazers with bonded leather embellishments, short-cropped leather biker inspired jackets in burgundy but with detailed design embellishments.

Knee-length coats appear in light natural colors with quilted sleeves in leather. Naturally the coat is belted. This opens the section to more earth tone colors. In it is the trench in military olive green wool felt. This little number has a studded back as only Richmond could imagine. And after taking the collection into dark colors, Richmond manages to toss in a couple of looks including one total look with large floral prints in red.

After the brilliantly studded trousers in black, the designer send out leggings tucked inside of the boots that he is working hard to promote this season. The shoes in the collection are all “glacéé”. Some have raised motifs, while others have designs etched right into the fabric. Of course, large bags for weekend and travel complete the collection.

DIRK BIKKEMBERGS

Marcellous Jones

MENS FW 13/14

MILAN

Milan (Men)

Dirk Bikkembergs

fall winter 2013

menswear

DIRK BIKKEMBERGS Harmonious Opposition By Marcellous L. Huge blanket coats, turtlenecks, tailored blazers with fine details show off the classically athletic body of the Bikkbembergs man. Bands that have been bonded to the fabrics help to sculpt the idea of an in-shape body.

Leggings are too important in the collection. They appear in knit, woven and technical fabrics. Jones

Milan, Italy – It is in a cold, frosty, snow-covered alpine setting at via Tortona where Moncler Gamme Bleu, under the artistic direction of designer Thom Browne, presented its new collection for Fall Winter 2013/14. The spectacular setting is breath-taking, and extremely convincing and all-too-real. It is necessary in order fully communicate the full spirit of Browne’s creation. And the music featuring the rock bagpipes helped to push forth the theme of Scotland on skis.

Historically Moncler specializes in do-dunes and puffer jackets. Their presence on the ski slopes is inextricably linked to sport. So it is only normal that it would charm us this season with designs that bring new chic to attire befitting the activity.

Knits are used to create full looks with legging-like trousers and matching jackets. Quilting goes far beyond the expected squares. Instead they are made abstractions in the shirts, pants and short-cropped jackets. Some long coats have voluminous pleated backs. The thick, knitted socks are kilted and appear in solids and cool argyle.

And of course the plaids are used in every important aspect of the collection. They are most beautiful when applied to the blazer with one-side pleated.

DAKS

Marcellous Jones

MENS FW 13/14

MILAN

Milan (Men)

DAKS

fall winter 2013

menswear

DAKS A Constellation of Beauty By Marcellous L. Instead they propose gorgeous trench-capes in water repellant fabrics as outerwear. One look features a beautiful waist-length cape in navy with leather piping about the collars. Long knitted scarves also accompany many of the looks.

Mustard knits are without a doubt the star of the color palette. We see country green, tea, gray and checks dominating.

The trousers are cut slimly to the legs. The coats and trenched are belted and fitted slim for the sleekest of looks. Quilted leather is used to create pants. Their sex appeal is moderated by their being paired with knit scarves. The quilted leather also makes appearances as important embellishments to the coats and jacket. Mustard satin is also used in the coats.

The evening is extremely chic at Daks. The blue velvet double-breasted suit is the brightest of all in this collection, which is a metaphor for a constellation of beautiful stars.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

Marcellous Jones

MENS FW 13/14

MILAN

Milan (Men)

fall winter 2013

menswear

Vivienne Westwood

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD Joyous Tone Strikes the Right Chords By Marcellous L. Lots of color, audacious cuts and great styling will chase away the winter air in favor of more excellent party occasions to certainly come.

The collection has lots of wide horizontal stripes, strict shoulders and deep dropping crouches for a rebellious English touch. The cardigans represent the best of knitwear. Like many of the woven blazers, they have long, vertically placed flaps that may be buttoned at the knees. All these elements lead us into the formal wear section that beautifully closes out the show.

The plastic derby shoes in festive colors like orange, yellow, etc., are new to the line.
