I fully appreciate his work and even more, I understand the work. The difficulty comes in the fact that I enjoy his collections so much that I never want to write about it. I instead would rather sit in the audience as a spectator and watch Vieira delight us as he always does.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">True Vieira does not do revolutionary menswear. He saves all that for his womenswear. But all the same it is just a pleasure to watch him do what he does. And one is simply compelled to love it. For the men he has indeed created an army of suits that are dominated by classic cuts and navy blue tones.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">For women he offers up jumpsuits in lovely waffle fabrics and long dresses in black crepe. Some of the later have no sleeves and are emboldened with gold zipper details. And Vieira also puts in lots of V-neck cuts and pencil cut skirts for sex appeal. It is replete with the seasons’ colors including tones of alpine snow, marsala, deep navy-blue and the always-in-fashion black. What’s worthy to notice is that he sees total looks from head to toe.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The silhouettes have the simple loose-fitting character, but emphasize the femininity definitely. The designer also gives up from the visible clasps to hidden under the fabric panels all together. He left them slightly exaggerated in the back of the dresses. The only thing we have at the disposal of the collection, is loosely (and nonchalantly) waist-tied belts. Miguel Vieira dresses women in patterned coats, subtle dresses, long waistcoats, tunics, turtleneck and slacks bells.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Anyone, who has a good taste and a sharp eye for fashion knows that the Miguel Vieira’s workshop and portfolio is one of pure richness, quality, simple elegance and the remarkable cut.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">May he be not only the country: Portugal. The organization of Madrid’s fashion week has recognized the influence of the neighbouring country as far as fashion design is concerned and invited three of its renowned designers to present their work in Madrid. After finishing her studies in design in 1983 at the “Gudi Fashion School”, she completed her training in Paris and worked with Emilio Pucci in Florence. She started her own brand in the year 1988 and in 2000 she opened her first store in Oporto. She has exhibited her collections in the best international platforms (Paris, New York, Sao Paulo, Düsseldorf, Copenhagen) and currently has stores in Oporto, Lisbon and Åarhus (Denmark). Her collections are very feminine, with an urban, practical and simple style.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>ANABELA BALDAQUE´s </strong>Collection Autumn-Winter 2015/16 was named <span style="text-decoration: underline;">“Teatime</span>”. A history made up of images. The visit to a museum reminded her the cloakroom with winter clothes hanging there. Capes, long coats, big coats, thick coats, scarves wool…Each picture of the exhibition awaked in the designer a chromatic movement: Autumnal shades like beige and ecru, combined with yellow, orange, black and many shades of blue. The shine of the colours savouring the elegance. The collection showed a mixture of romantic rock mixed with graphic audacity. Among other materials: brocade, silks, lurex, wool, jersey knit, plain and fantasy textures. The silhouettes were long and flowing, being key pieces coats and scarf shirts.<strong> </strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The second fashion show was signed by <strong>JÚLIO TORCATO</strong>, one of the most important designers in Portugal creating fashion for men. His collections are aimed at the young man of today and positioned in a medium-high market segment. Identity, mobility and trendiness are the key concepts of the brand. He offers a casual style, with sports influences, and is characterised by a combination of minimalist and classical casual aesthetics, the high quality and strong identity of the products and the special attention to patterns and details. The men´s collections of Júlio Torcato show an elegant and urban style, based on a classical inspiration but with a contemporary mentality. Usually, he works with materials such as wood, silk and linen, using sometimes technological textiles such as neoprene. On the same year he wins the Portex Contest for Young Designers (Spring/Summer). Other awards followed this prize.He has been the designer for many recognised international brands (Queens, Decénio, Salsa, Lion of Porches y Red Oak). Since 2008 he started to commercialize his own brand, taking part in several fairs and international fashion shows (Paris, Czech Republic, Poland, Brasil, Angola, Mozambique, etc.). Besides that, since 2007, he teaches as a design professor at the Beira University.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">“TWO (2) COLLECTION”</span> was the title of the collection for the next winter collection presented by <strong>JÚLIO TORCATO</strong> in Madrid. The collection inspired by duality and duplicity, us and them, with the differences approaching like energy (positive/negative) and associating apparently opposing concepts: light/dark, tradition/modernity, classical/street. The materials, shapes and textures were the key concept of the collection: low waisted pants and long jackets, synthetic leather, velvet, leather, 100% wool, stripes and tartans provide contemporary silhouettes and reinforce the look of the collection. The used colours were black, navy blue, burgundy, and ash.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The golden “finale” for the Portuguese shows in Madrid was held by <strong>MIGUEL VIEIRA</strong>, one of the most national and internationally recognized and respected Portuguese designers. His successful career as a designer started 1986 and he is today one of the greatest names of fashion in Portugal, where he usually presents his collections at the “Portugal Fashion Weeks” fashion shows in Porto and Lisbon. He has participated at the most important international platforms and catwalks (<a href="http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Fashion_Week">Paris, </a>Sao Paulo, Moscow, Milano, Belgrade, Warsaw, Istanbul, Bilbao, Montevideo, Madeira, Barcelona, etc.). Miguel Vieira has received many awards and has taken part in many international design projects. His label is commercialized since 1991, offering, besides his collections for men and women, his own lines in shoes, jewels, glasses, handbags and homewear. Perfectly cut suits with a hand-crafted base, carefully made by tailors with the finest cashmere; handmade shoes from the hands of the most experienced craftsmen; ties and knit shirts that fit like a second skin. The clothes are modern, really wearable but still with a posh attitude to them. The show featured clothes which modern, career-oriented men and women may easily wear for daytime or nighttime meetings. The designer’s silhouettes are perfectly tailored giving the body crisp form and a sharp, striking appearance.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The designer likes minimalism but with strong features like great lapels, collars, big pockets, slits and big necklines.The colours are the strong to go to basics: greys, black, white, navy and light blue. Most of the pieces where crisp, monochromatic silhouettes. The designer showed also some structured, quilted pieces and prints like checks or vertical stripes.The collection consists of pants, skirts, tunics, dresses, jackets, shirts and suits (some 3 piece or double-breasted). Some sets have accessories like ties, belts, bow-ties, bags and scarfs. Another striking feature are the white sport shoes which give the sets more a dynamic, casual appearence. Everything falls well, so clean, fresh and modern, giving the models a strong presence needed in the workplace.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The whole collection — although crafted to business tastes — is one for spring-summer thanks to its lightness. One must admit to being somewhat taken aback by it upon first glance.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">First Vieira attacked the season with a very simple color palette of black, white and lilac. Due to his choice to promote his athletic footwear line by having the models step out in them instead of stilettos and with practically no jewelry accessories, the silhouettes appear underwhelming upon first look. They include simple tank top dresses, sleeveless dresses, shorts ensembles and suits. The only dramatic pieces in the collection are the designer’s dresses with plunging V necklines.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">From an aesthetic point of view, the collection does have the Miguel Vieira DNA. Jones</b></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><b>Novi Sad, Serbia – </b>All fashion weeks need a hero or a dramatic moment in which high expectations are met with beauty, clever styling and drama. They must culminate in a powerful climax that brings forth applause, tears and a sense of finality. Such a moment is singular. And it came in the presentation of the new Spring/Summer 2014 collection of Portuguese designer, Miguel Vieira.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Vieira – the guest of honor at the Serbia Fashion Week – also chose the Balkan catwalks to celebrate his 25<sup>th</sup> Anniversary. He did so with style, grace, elegance and modern chic. The collection sees a skilled display of cuts and the use of color (Peach, mint, white, navy blue, gray, black) that makes even the worst of pessimists happy.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;">Jersey tops and crisp white shirts are accessorized with matching handkerchiefs tied around the neck as a replacement to a classic tie. The suit trousers are slimly cut, but not skinny. The blazers are tailored, but comfortable. Though the men’s silhouettes are far less adventurous than the women, they have great details such as vivid lining in the blazers. This makes them far more than simple attire that is meant as a compliment to the women’s line.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> The Vieira woman wears skirts of asymmetrical cuts, arm revealing tops, death-defying plunging necklines, satin, pants ensemble in blue with long sleeves. Prints are highlighted with large stones. They are used in both skirted silhouettes as well as in pants ensembles.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Miguel Vieira is known as what the British call a “proper gentleman”. And with that in mind, he seemingly ended the collection in the very spirit of a gallant society man dressed in black and his elegant lady, dressed to the nines in a beautiful sleeveless gown in silk and which revisits all the codes of the collections.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">This show literally brought tears to the eyes of this writer and to another VIP guest of the fashion week.
