Paris, France – This season marks the second consecutive one in which the designer Rami Kadi presents his work during the couture season in Paris. His new outing comes just in time for Spring/Summer 2017. It must be considered as a drastic change from his last presentation. Today we find a very optimistic and delightful body of work.
Rami Kadi ‘s new collection is created on a body of white silk crepe, silk tulle and silk chiffons and with just a bit of lace in a dusty rose. The silhouettes consist of two-piece ensembles with both short and long skirts or full onset dresses. The shapes vary from straight and long to full and floor-sweeping. Each piece in the collection (all save the lace dresses in the dusty rose) is embellished with colorful and joyous embroideries and appliqués that includes stars, rainbows, little hearts, mythical lions with wings, etc. In terms of composition, it is interesting to note that the couturier never reveals both the arms and the legs in a single silhouette. Perhaps by design or by unconscious chance, this fact brings another sense of unity to the collection.
Again this collection is far different in tone than the one presented six months at the Hotel Plaza Athenée in Paris. The period was well spent and has resulted in Rami Kadi returning with a very different energy. Fresh and new, it is so welcomed at this time become not only is it a happy collection, but its innate optimism is infectious.
