New York City (NY), USA – Several days ago in New York, the Chinese couturier Lan Yu presented her new ready-to-wear collection on the catwalks of the Big Apple. This direct turn to the USA is an important one from a strategic point of view for the house of Lanyu. This is particularly of huge significance as the designer had always prefered Paris over the years as the special place which she opens the doors to the West for her exquisite creations.

The collection sees the house of Lanyu blending velvets, silks, lace and sheers to form the majority of the silhouettes. There is even the inclusion of some tweed for good measure. They are soft, elegant and extremely feminine as they both subtley and not so subtley reveal areas of the skin such as the neck, the arms, the legs, the thighs and even parts of the midriff. This includes the pieces that are created for daywear use in mind such as the off the shoulder dress.

It is excellent to see how Lan Yu forms a cohesive balance between the pieces that are meant to be worn openly and the pieces that are clearly infused with lingerie. This creates a fixed air of lightness and modernity that the fashion industry is fully ready to embrace with very open arms.
