Riga, Latvia – The Narciss collection for Fall Winter 2017/18 is inspired by the state between wake and sleep. The designer perhaps even dreams of “A Real Hero” as the models walked to the 2011 song from Electric Youth. With chain link fences brought out onto the runway, the stage was set for a vibrant and colorful collection. Shades of Etro with Tibetan fabric coats are the first looks out, with rich brocades and gold lame following.

The collection came across as playful. If it’s about the transition from day-to-night, it is really for the night owl who wants to go out and have fun. The collection is dominated by dresses, from the sexy slips which have a nineties feel, to simple sac dresses (which indeed takes a brave girl to wear). Narciss also plays with shape to create delicate ruffles with stiff brocade. A velvet slip dress is topped with a gold lame brocade coat with a pink collar. It results in an explosion of texture and pattern. It too is not for the faint of heart, but would work for the fun girl who Narciss has in mind.
