Lisbon, Portugal – Nuno Baltazar, one of the most well known designers in Portugal, presented his new Fall Winter 2014/15 collection titled “Mar de Sophia”. It is an outing inspired by the work of the Portuguese writer and poet Sophia de Mello Breyner. His objective lies in keeping hold of the elegant and sophisticated concept. However at times this task is made challenging due to the use of less interesting materials.
Mr. Baltazar expresses himself this season on a color palette of blush, black, light blue and stripes. As the designer used neoprene, silk and cotton, this seems to be a reasonable choice.
The dresses mimic suits in the front and have an open slit in the front. The vertical ruffle brings in a hint of distinction to the looks. A second horizontal ruffle at the waist creates the illusion of a two-piece but indeed these are one piece dresses. And the hemlines vary with the long skirts and dresses being finished with flared bottoms.
Then lots of jumpsuits are the collection’s crowning highlights for the season.
